GRADUATION PROJECT
INSTITUT FRANÇAIS DE LA MODE
- zine art direction and graphic design for Nensi Dojaka

/ 2024
This project started with the question “what is sexy today?”, but no straight answer could be found. A different interpretation of the concept of “sexiness” is visualized in each new edition of “Linger”, a printed brand zine accompanying every new collection of the UK based brand Nensi Dojaka.

Deconstruction, introspection and tension are three different approaches to female sexiness today, adapted to the brand’s identity and visualized in these first three zines.

THE DECONSTRUCTION ISSUE FOR FALL WINTER 2020

Nensi Dojaka’s fall winter 2020 collection emerged out of an opposition to perfection and flawlessness, that resulted in garments incorporating raw edges, exposed seams and distressed textiles with an unfinished appearance that hint at the process of design and creation, to destabilise the idea of a universal truth.

The image of the ideal and stereotypical sexy woman is deconstructed and the assumptions that come with certain body parts are erased with it in this first issue of the Linger zine for Nensi Dojaka.

The entire zine is constructed as one leporello, but loosely bound in the artificial spine to be innitially read as a “normal” zine.

When arriving at the end of the first part of the zine, the reader is invited to “untie here”.
Just like in real life, a one time experience alters and deconstructs the zine and reveals the second half of the leporello.

Analog as well as digital collages, a combination of altered archive images of Nensi Dojaka and images shot by myself, an abstraction of the garments created with paper, illustrations, transparent paper incorporated in the physical zine as well in the collages are many of the techniques and materials used to create this Deconstructed issue.
