SOUND DESIGN
/ 2023A sound workshop where we translated a given text, “Thomas l’Obscur” by Maurice Blanchot, into a self composed sound. The text escalates quickly from tranquility and peace into a chaotic panic attack. Where in the beginning a person appeared to be swimming serenely in the sea, by the end of the text we can ask ourselves the question: was it ever really water? Or is he drowning in his own head?
This is why we created a sound that undergoes the same metamorphosis, recreating the sound of the ocean with the sounds of planes, cars, objects touching. Throughout the song, the waves intensify and it becomes obvious that it were never really waves.
The video material is a combination of 2 existing videos. We did not create the visual material, the purpose of this workshop was to create a new sound.
